At WEIPR, we believe that serving clients in a global marketplace requires a strong internal foundation in cross-border intellectual property practices. To that end, we recently held a firm-wide training session focused on the fundamentals of international IP prosecution.
On April 1, colleagues from across our offices gathered—both in person and virtually—for an in-depth session on “Fundamentals of International IP Practice.” The training was led by our International Prosecution Team, with Wenjing Chen, Jiamin Chen, Ting Huang and Xiaofan Jian, serving as the keynote speakers.
The session provided a comprehensive overview of key topics in cross-border IP protection, including:
The processes and strategies involved in foreign patent filings;
Key considerations for international trademark registration;
Practical insights into managing prosecution workflows across different jurisdictions.
One of the highlights of the session was its collaborative format. Team members from our headquarters, as well as our three other branch offices, joined simultaneously—reflecting our firm's commitment to knowledge sharing and operational alignment across locations.

As we continue to support clients with their global IP strategies, internal training initiatives like this ensure that our teams across departments and offices remain well-equipped to navigate the complexities of international prosecution with confidence and consistency.
We extend our thanks to the International Prosecution Team for their thoughtful preparation and for fostering a culture of shared expertise across our firm.
