At WEIPR, we believe that strong collaboration begins with a shared understanding. While our patent team brings deep technical expertise, we also recognize the value of helping colleagues across the firm better understand the work we do together for our clients.
On March 26, we held an internal session titled “Patent Fundamentals,” led by He Wei from our Patent Department. The session was designed specifically for colleagues in business development, client services, and support roles—offering a clear and practical overview of key patent concepts that support day-to-day client interactions and cross-team coordination.

The session covered topics such as:
· What patents are and how they protect innovation;
· The patent drafting and filing process;
· Priority rights and fast‑track examination options;
· A practical introduction to patent infringement.
Far from being a basic training, this session served as an opportunity to align cross-departmental knowledge, ensuring that colleagues from non-technical backgrounds feel confident engaging with clients and collaborating with our patent professionals. It reflects our commitment to breaking down silos and fostering a culture where expertise is shared, not kept within a single team.
At WEIPR, we believe that the best client outcomes are built on seamless teamwork. By investing in shared learning, we empower every team member—technical and non-technical alike—to contribute to the high-quality service our clients expect.
