On March 28, 2025, the inaugural meeting and first plenary session of the Hubei Provincial Intellectual Property Standardization Technical Committee (hereinafter referred to as the "Hubei IP Standards Committee") was successfully held in Wuhan. Zhang Kai, General Manager of WEIPR Group, was appointed as one of the committee's first 49 expert members in recognition of his outstanding expertise and industry influence in intellectual property (IP). This marks a significant milestone for WEIPR Group in advancing IP standardization initiatives.
Central China's First Provincial IP Standards Committee to Forge "Hubei Standards" for Innovation
Co-hosted by the Hubei Provincial Intellectual Property Office and the Provincial Market Regulation Bureau, the meeting featured speeches by Liu Xiaopu, Second-Level Inspector of the Provincial Intellectual Property Office, and Wang Jing, Director of the Provincial Market Regulation Bureau's Standardization Department.
Liu emphasized that the committee's establishment aligns with the strategic directives of national leadership for Hubei, providing critical technical support to build the province into a hub for scientific innovation and strengthen its IP capabilities. Wang highlighted the committee's mission to create "four major platforms":
- A high-quality standard development center;
- A standardization activity platform;
- An open cooperation window;
- A standard promotion forum.
These platforms aim to drive IP standardization toward greater standardization and internationalization.
As the first provincial-level IP standardization organization in central China, the committee will focus on:
- Building a Hubei-specific IP standard system;
- Formulating and promoting industry technical norms;
- Integrating "IP + standards" to foster synergistic development.
